AM - Did my regular neighborhood loop with the dog, felt crummy from two weeks of holiday treats and being sick.  We ran right next to two deer on the other side of a fence for a few feet before they retreated into the woods, it was beautiful. Boone seems to be in better shape than I am so I decided to track his miles for 2012 along with mine.  Boone Total - 3.77

PM - 30 Minutes of weights, felt good.  Making bread afterwords didn't feel so great.

Its a regular pool. They dont have the lane ropes up yet since the gym has only been open a few days. It wasnt busy today, but I hear its often crowded.

I got to the gym today and didnt have any shorts or pants.  Nicole suggested I run in my underwear, but I opted for the pool instead.  

The swim was good, but as always, a frustrating workout.  I am not a good swimmer, (which is obvious based on the short distance I am calling a workout), and am going to be more dedicated about practicing.

Looking forward to a new running location tomorrow morning at Point Defiance.

Running with Nicole and Lisa on 5 Mile Road at Point Defiance.  We loved this loop!  I cant wait to go back when the sun is out.  Felt pretty good until the last 1.5 miles when my leg started to bother me.

Cross Country Skiing for the first time today - I had a blast!  We traveled about a 10K and took lots of pictures.

Nicole and I met for a track workout today in the rain.  I like running in the rain when t isn't too cold, so it was great running weather for me.  I always like speed workouts when I have finished them, and I know they are important for my training, but it is impossible to do them alone.  We did about a mile warm up and cool down with 6 X 400 at about an 800 m pace (at least my 800 m pace - Nicole may have been running faster) with an easy 400 for rest/recovery.  I didnt have my watch but based on the distance Nicole was in front of me I think my 6th was about 6-8 seconds slower than my first.  I'll have to decrease that time difference the next time we do this work out.  My legs are already feeling the workout.

 On the way home I watched to people get hit by a car while crossing a cross walk.  That shook me up quit a bit after a rather difficult day.

Thanks for coming and making me come! I'm glad the sprinkles let up. That was my 400 pace, I doubt I could have kept it up for an 800, unfortunately. The splits are on my blog if you want to steal them. Still so sorry about your day and that's crazy about that crash.

Got to the gym just in time for a cycle class with an instructor I havent had before.  He was awesome.  We did a tough pyramid on high gear, some awesome sprint intervals, and two killer hills.  I was happy with my rpm's and consistency throught the workout with the exception of our sprint intervals.  I need to continue to challenge my fast twitch muscles.

I planned on a swim afterward, but the pool was occupied with a class.

I started a warm up run on the TM with the intention of a good swim workout today.  After about 3 minutes of slow jogging warm up (10 minute mile pace), I got bored and decided to do a 5K.  Finished right at 28 minutes and cooled down.  Felt really good.

I am still working on good timeing for my breaths in the pool.  I tried to alternate between right and left side, and had success for about 50 yards.  It really didnt go very well.  After inhaling a gulp of water and having a coughing attack, I gave up on the workout.  Music may have helped today.

Cycle class today.  We did a ton of hills.  I was pleased with my gear ups but not my sprints.  I wasn't able to keep up my rpms as high as I wanted for all 5 of the 30 second sprints at the end of the workout.  I felt to good after the workout that I planned to run a 5K.  Every single treadmill, elliptical machine and stair stepper was occupied when class was over.  I didnt want to wait.

Skin treatment today that requires that I do not sweat for 48 hours.  Wimpy 30 minute arms and upper back workout today.

Another unimpressive workout today.  I did 2.8 miles on the elliptical machine while Kevin swam.  I was trying not to sweat and am looking forward to a real workout tomorrow.
